Portraits and Architecture Illustrations For Book Project About Concord California

In 2016 we moved to Concord, California. To learn about our new home I attended a local business meet-and-greet. I joined an artist association. I visited local businesses. I met leaders of the Concord Historical Society. Based on those interactions I created a map of Concord. It includes some of the historical buildings in the city. I posted all of it to social media.

After I joined Concord Artists Association I met a member who was a columnist for a local newspaper. She interviewed me for her column after she saw my map. She encouraged me to illustrate and design a book about Concord.

The book would include local buildings and structures. It would include portraits of residents with an illustrated story of their lives in Concord. I was a group exercise instructor at a local gym so I had access to quite a few local residents. I met a teacher, a paralegal, a musician, Concord residents, small business owners and more.

I haven’t completed the book. Doesn’t matter because I made friends and I learned what makes Concord a good place to live: community.
