Historical Contributions Of Inventors And Innovators

My name is Alex Savakis. I illustrate portraits of inventors and innovators. The motivation behind my work came from an online event. The Instagram account, TheyDrawAndCook, posted prompts of food to draw. Instead of drawing food I researched and rendered inventors, innovators, and influencers who brought different food to the public. For instance, Ella Helfrich’s second place win for her Tunnel Of Fudge Bundt cake was the momentum behind the rise in popularity of the Bundt cake pan and instant cake mixes in the United States.

Currently I use my life experiences to connect to inventors. For example, as a kid, the first and only gaming system I owned was the Atari 2600. With a story about how I acquired the gaming system and a background of the video game Space Invaders I created a portrait of Nolan Bushnell, one of the co-founders of Atari.
