Alex Savakis illustrated portraits of individuals who developed inventions in a variety of industries. The curiosity of these inventors gave us innovations and memories we hold dear today.
He enjoyed researching his subjects. Uncovering disputes about a couple of inventions surprised him. The best parts of this challenge were learning about creative individuals and working on his storytelling skills.
In 2024, Alex participated in an event by TheyDrawAndCook on Instagram. The creators posted a list of foods to illustrate. Instead of illustrating his version of cookies or potato chips, Alex created editorial portraits of the inventors and innovators of these foods. He illustrated the cookie maker Famous Amos and George “Crum” Speck, inventor of the potato chip.
