  • What would your dream project be?

    To illustrate a graphic novel of people whose actions and deeds influenced American culture.

  • Which of your portraits is a personal favorite?

    Charles Lathrop Pack. In 1917, he initiated the War Garden movement in the United States. His mission was to inspire Americans to cultivate vegetable gardens and contribute to Europe’s food supply during World War I.

  • What is the most important feature to capture?

    I think two features are important in portraiture, the eyes and mouth. They animate the subject.

  • Tell us something about you that might surprise or delight us.

    I had a letterpress print shop in my attic. I printed cards for Christmas, Halloween and Valentine’s Day and gave them to friends and family.

  • What's your educational and professional background?

    I have degrees in art history and graphic design. I started my creative career has a signmaker. Later I worked and freelanced as a hand lettering artist for greeting card companies. I designed infographics, social media graphics, and printed collateral for non profit and higher education organizations. Since the pandemic I’m building my business as an editorial illustrator specializing in portraiture.

  • How do you recharge your creative battery?

    I exercise everyday to clear my head. I keep sketchbooks and notebooks to get ideas out of my head. I read comic books and graphic novels.
