My Concord Map
Alex wanted to share his experience as a new resident of Concord, California. To get acquainted with his new city he became a member of the Concord Artist Association (CAA). He marched in a few Independence Day parades as a CAA member. He attended a couple of local business events. He learned about the history of Concord through a personal tour of the Concord Historical Society. He met many residents as a graphic designer and, yes, a personal trainer and group fitness instructor.
To honor Concord and his initial experience he created an illustrated map. He learned Concord has a sister in Japan. The city’s original name was Todos Santos. No official record exists about the reason city changed its name to Concord. He was surprised to learn Concord could have part of Northern California Wine Country thanks to the Italian immigrants who planted grapevines. Prohibition stopped its progress before it could gain traction.
This project would lead him to design a map for VisitConcord and the Concord Jazz Festival.
