Butter Board

I made a series of food boards. Food boards are similar to charcuterie boards. Instead of artfully arranged cheeses and cured meats on trays or cutting boards, these boards start with a spread. The spread can be a dip like hummus, guacamole or chocolate. Surrounding the board are assorted foods to dip into the spread. In my illustrations you’ll see what I’m talking about. Fruits, vegetables, salty snacks, and anything you can imagine that work with the spread sit within dipping distance. At the time I created these food board illustrations the butter board was the hot thing. Firm but soft, not melted, butter is smeared over a board. Dried or fresh herbs are sprinkled into the butter. Bowls and baskets of savory and salty snacks are arranged near the butter for dipping.
