Understanding The Contributions Of Inventors
Alex Savakis illustrated portraits of individuals who developed inventions in a variety of industries. The curiosity of these inventors gave us innovations – and memories we hold dear today.
In 2024, Alex participated in an online event from the website, They-Draw.com. The creators of the website posted a list of foods to draw. Instead of illustrating his version of cookies or potato chips, he created portraits of the inventors and innovators of these foods. He illustrated the cookie maker Famous Amos and George “Crum” Speck, inventor of the potato chip.
Alex made a good decision to go beyond the creative brief. He didn’t want his work to be another version of the same subject. He enjoyed researching his subjects. Uncovering disputes about a couple of inventions surprised him. The best parts of this challenge were learning about creative individuals and appreciating his storytelling skills.
